Why the Presidio is Our Family's Go-To San Francisco Destination

As a family of six living in the Bay Area, finding places that work for everyone—from toddlers to teens—can be challenging. That's why we keep coming back to the Presidio in San Francisco. It's become our absolute favorite family destination, and here's why it should be yours too.

What Makes the Presidio Perfect for Families

It's Incredibly Clean and Well-Maintained
One of the first things you'll notice about the Presidio is how pristine everything is. From the restrooms to the play areas, the entire park is meticulously maintained. As parents, this gives us peace of mind letting our kids explore and play freely.

Parking is Never a Problem
Even with our large SUV, we've never had trouble finding parking. There are multiple parking areas throughout the Presidio, including large lots near the Presidio Visitor Center and convenient spots near all the major attractions. No circling the block or stressing about where to park!

Our Must-Visit Spots

Outpost Meadow - The Crown Jewel
This is hands-down one of the most beautiful and underrated places in San Francisco for families. The brand-new Outpost Meadow is absolutely gorgeous and perfect for picnics. The wide open green space is ideal for kids to run around, and the views of the Golden Gate Bridge are breathtaking.

Right next to it, you'll find the Outpost Adventure Playground with natural climbing structures, wooden slides, and bridges—all with those iconic Golden Gate Bridge views in the background. It's perfect for toddlers and big kids alike.
